Hello! My name is Teresa Clark and I enjoy working on web sites!
I started learning HTML when my children were still at home, they've sinced ventured out into the world and left me with an empty nest. I often found myself at the computer with a couple of my poodles sleeping on my feet...not a bad place to be. So off I went to learn how to make a web site for myself. You can see this first orginial site at http://www.tlcpoodles.com. It's been around for a long time. I don't think it is as good as the sites I'm doing now. I often think of 'redoing' it but spend most of my time on other people's sites. Still, I enjoy my web site. It has a lot of content about myself and my dogs and I get a lot of feedback from it..and that's what it's all about.....having a presence on the Big World Wide Web.
I've moved back to my home town now...Big Stone Gap in the beautiful mountains of southwest Virginia. I still have an inhome grooming shop and yes, I still have my wonderful poodles. And they still lay on my feet while I do my 'puter work'. Life is good.
I've meet some wonderful friends over internet. Friends I will probably never meet in person, but that's just fine....it's surprizing how close you can become to someone through e-mail and occasional phone calls! We enjoy our 'puter relationships'.
I spend my days grooming dogs.....other people's as well as my own, and I spend my evening working on web sites. I don't use any programs to create pages for me...I prefer to use html codes. It gives me more freedom to do as I like. I do not work with templates, Front Page, etc. I like java scripts, midi files, animations, etc. I don't do Flash. Maybe one of these days I'll check it out. It looks like fun but has it's drawbacks with the search engines.
I'm happy checking my e-mail often for sites needing updates and planning an evening of 'putering'.
I rarely leave my home for long...occasionally horseback riding, Sundays with my Mother, etc. I'm also adjutant for our local Disabled American Veterans Auxiliary but most of that work I do from my home too. So I'm pretty much a 'stay at home doggie mom'.
Most of the sites I design are dog related. Guess it all started because of my dog site. But I've worked with other content, including a church site that no longer exists. No matter the content, I know I'd have fun with it. Well, I don't work on 'naughty sites'...that I refuse to do. Other than that, I'm open to about anything.
I am not a company. I'm one person working behind one computer. I feel I've become friends with many of the site owners and that's nice. I feel a web site is somewhat personal. It should show a bit of the person who owns it. I can pretty much set up and design it without much input but it can be a lot of fun when I get to know the site owners and we work together a bit on it.....each of us making suggestions, wondering what to do to the site next. Sites tend to grow a bit as time passes. They start off small and are added to slowly but surely. Some people have 'joke' pages, some have 'favorite recipes' pages, some have 'games' pages, some show off their family as well as their dogs. Some are 'brag' sites..mainly showing their dogs, some are active breeders offering puppies for sale, some offer info on heatlh care. And some sites offer all the above.
And I feel blessed, because I get to be a part of all this!
I'd be happy to discuss a site for you too!
Teresa
